Research Interests

Modeling silage fermentation and silage quality. Understanding processes occurring during ensiling and their effects on silage quality. Development of techniques and additives for preserving and enhancing silage.

Current and Planned Experimentation

  • Measurement of density and losses in bag silos
  • Investigation of factors affecting density in bunker silos
  • Development of means to preserve crop protein during ensiling
  • Development of mathematical relationships to explain the effects of
harvesting and storage on the nutritive value of forages
  • Comparison of the effectiveness of the latest corn silage inoculants on
    silage quality and aerobic stability
Development of means for successfully ensiling potato vines.
